Hydrotherapy

Run by Stefan Latanowski
We are pleased to announce that we are offering another course of hydrotherapy to families who have children with complex physical needs.
HYDROTHERAPY

Me too & Co runs regular hydrotherapy courses on Sundays throughout the year.

If you are interested in this therapy for your child, please do read below and then book your place as below. Here is some more information on the course.

Who:

We have booked exclusive use of Teddington Hydrotherapy Pool on Sunday afternoons, ainly aimed at children with Cerebral Palsy and other physical and mobility difficulties.

We are limiting this course to 4 children so that Stefan can give them the individual attention they need. We will be running hydrotherapy courses continually, so don't worry if you don't get a place on this course, but please express an interest for our next course.

We are asking parents to express an interest in their child taking part in this course. Places will be allocated according to need. Places will be confirmed once places have been allocated and payment will then be requested.

If your child has had hydrotherapy recently, whether through us or on the NHS, please can you wait a few days before booking, to allow those children with severe needs who haven’t had recent access to hydrotherapy to book first.

Also if your child’s needs are less severe, please allow priority to those with more challenging needs. As we have a large number of children who are wheelchair users and do not receive hydrotherapy, it is unlikely that we will be able to offer hydrotherapy to children with lower levels of need, such as autism only.

When:

This course will take place on Sundays from 13.30 to 14.30.

5 week course - £40

6 week course - £48

1st session – dry land assessment session

Subsequent sessions – in pool

For those children who do not know Stefan, the first session will be on dry land for a 30 minute assessment of the child’s needs in Ham, Richmond. All the children will then start the course on the second Sunday at the hydrotherapy pool in Teddington where sessions 2 to 5 will take place.

The times of the session are between 1.30 to 2.30pm.

Where:

The hydrotherapy sessions will take place at Teddington Pool and Fitness Centre, Vicarage Road, Teddington TW11 8EZ.

This is just off Teddington High Street.

There is on-site parking which is free on a Sunday and wheelchair accessible car park spaces.

Please see

for more information on location etc

How:

The hydrotherapy sessions will be led by Stefan Latanowski, who provides our developmental yoga on Friday mornings. Stefan is both a qualified physiotherapist and yoga teacher. He currently provides private 1:1 sessions at Teddington Hydrotherapy Pool.

Please see his website for more information.

http://www.yogiphysio.com/special-needs-children/hydrotherapy/

The first session will be on dry land, for case histories and needs assessments. Sessions 2 to 5 or 6 will be in the pool.

A parent or carer is expected to go into the water with their child, as this is a great opportunity to experience this therapy together.

Each child will be in the water for 30 minutes grouped together with one other child. The amount of direct contact time with each child is dependent upon the numbers of children wishing to take part and the level of their needs. Once this is known Stefan will allocate you a pool entry time of either 1:30 or 2.00 pm.

How much:

We are asking parents to pay £40 towards the cost of a 5 week course or £48 towards the cost of a 6 week course.

When the children’s needs have been assessed, you will receive confirmation that your child has a place on the course and can then make payment via our website.

Families in financial difficulties are welcome to contact us about an assisted place. Please book a place for your child and then send us an email.

Photographs:

We have been very fortunate to receive funding for this course from a local charity. The charity has asked if we can provide photographs of the sessions, within reasonable limitations bearing in mind the nature of the activity, so that they have photographic evidence of how the money has been spent.

Could you let me know if you agree to photographs being taken of your child? Obviously these photos will be taken carefully and no individual child will be identified.

If you are interested in hydrotherapy for your child, please book online and enter more information about your child’s needs. We will then assess the needs of all the children interested and work out a timetable for therapy time in the water. We will then confirm your child’s place on the course, ask you to make payment and send you some forms to complete. We will also then confirm whether Stefan needs to see your child for the first land-based assessment and suggest a time to you.

Thank you for your interest.
